Final Rounds of DFB Pokal 2015-2016 Review – The 73rd season of DFB Pokal 2015-2016 has entered the final rounds. DFB Pokal is a football cup competition which held annually in German. It is the second important football event after Bundesliga championship in German. In this year, the event which held by German Football Association is held from August 2015 until June 2016.

After finishing the first and second rounds, now DFB Pokal entered the third of final rounds. With 64 teams participating in the competition, the round of 16 teams was held from 15th to 16th December 2016 with the matches list:

  • SpVgg Unterhaching vs Bayer Leverkusen (1-3)

The first match in the round of 16 started between SpVgg Unterhaching and Bayer Leverkusen. Bauer from Unterhaching scored the first goal after 27 minutes. Not long after, Hernández from Bayer brought the first score for his team in the 31 minutes. In the second half, two Bayer players, Kießling (55′) andBellarabi (83′) added the score and brought Bayer as the winner.

  • Borussia Mönchengladbachvs Werder Bremen (3-4)

The match between Borussia Mönchengladbach and Werder Bremen was very exciting. In the first half, Lars Stindl from Mönchengladbach broke the Bremen goalpost after 32 minutes. When entering the second half, in the minutes 52 Janek Sternberg scored a goal for Bremen. After that, the goals keep happening from Mönchengladbach, Branimir Hrgota (74′), then Bremen, Claudio Pizarro (75′) and Anthony Ujah (78′). The match ended up with Bremen’s victory.

  • Erzgebirge Auevs FC Heidenheim (0-2)

Aue needed to acknowledge the victory of FC Heidenheim after defeated by 0-2 score. Arne Feick (48′) and Marc Schnatterer (54′) have success on scoring goals for Heidenheim after the second half. The team gave the best defend and didn’t let Aue to score any goal until the match end.

  • Bayern Munichvs Darmstadt 98 (1-0)

The match between Bayern Munich and Darmstadt 98 was hot. Only Xabi Alonso from Munich can break the score in the minutes 40. Until the game ended, Darmstadt could break the defense from Munich and send Munich to the quarter finals.

  • Nürnberg vs Hertha BSC (0-2)

Hertha BSC made sure they will enter the quarter finals after defeating Nürnberg with the score 2-0. Two of Hertha players score the goal, Vladimir Darida (32′) and John Brooks (65′). While Nürnberg didn’t given any chance to score a goal, which lead to the victory of Hertha BSC.

  • VfB Stuttgart vs Eintracht Braunschweig (3-2)

The goal from Braunschweig, Joseph Baffo (6′), and Stuttgart, Georg Niedermeier (41′) equalize the score. Within the extra time, Orhan Ademi (110′) could add score to Braunschweig. But Stuttgart leading the score after Timo Werner (99′) and Toni Šunjić (118′) add two extra goals and give the victory for their team.

  • 1860 München vs VfL Bochum (0-2)

Bochum has positioned in the quarter finals with two score leading defeat 1860 Munchen. Janik Haberer (39′) and Tim Hoogland (44′) scored goals in the first half bring the victory to Bochum.

  • FC Augsburg vs Borussia Dortmund (0-2)

Until the game ended, Augsburg couldn’t score any goal. Instead, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (61′) and Henrikh Mkhitaryan (66′) from Dortmund scored goals continuously and lead their team as a winner.

After the end of Round of 16, the quarter finals of DFB Pokal will be held RevuePalast Ruhr in Herten on Feb 9-10th 2016.
